“Anne of Green Gables”
by L. M. Montgomery
My all time favorite book! If you don’t know Anne these are a must read. She is a spunky, lovable orphan whose capers will keep you laughing. I think there is a little “Anne” in all of us. The greatest thing about this book is it is just the first in a series. Reading level is probably the highest in these book suggestions.

It has been read as a family drama that validates virtue over wealth”, but also “as a means of escaping that life by women who knew its gender constraints only too well”.
